Can my pets come and live with me?
Residents in the independent living units are welcome to bring any small house-trained pet, although there may be some restrictions on upper level apartment dwellings. Conditions are detailed in our occupation right agreements and disclosure statements. In the studio units and rest homes, approval may be given, (depending on the existing cat or dog population).Back to top
Can I bring furniture and personal effects with me?
Yes, this is encouraged in our spacious rest home and hospital rooms with insurance being the responsibility of the resident.Back to top
Can my family and friends come to stay with me?
For those living independently, you may treat your unit as your own home and have visitors to stay on a temporary basis. We do not provide separate accommodation.Back to top
Can I redecorate my apartment?
Most of our apartments are decorated in neutral colours, but if residents wish to change the colour scheme, this can be done at their own expense. We may require a resident to pay for the unit to be reverted back to its original colour scheme at the end of the period of occupation if the makeover is too individualistic, so it is advised that any redecorating plans are discussed with the manager in the first instance. Any structural alterations must have prior approval.Back to top
What type of activities and excursions are organised?
All our villages employ an activities co-ordinator and every effort is made to ensure that activities meet the needs of the individual residents. These include bowls, housie, quizzes and special theme events. A library service is provided and regular outings in the Anglican Aged Care bus are popular with residents.Back to top
Is there a weekly charge? What does it cover?
The service charge for the independent living units covers rates, maintenance, emergency nursing assistance, grounds maintenance, window cleaning and administration. Charges are reviewed each year and normally increase by the amount of inflation. The service charge for the studio units also includes electricity, laundry cleaning and all meals.Back to top
Who is responsible for maintenance and repairs?
Exterior maintenance and repairs to the chattels supplied (e.g. fridge, washing machine and dishwasher) are the responsibility of Anglican Aged Care. Any damage caused by the resident's own negligence, or misuse of equipment, may be rectified by us. An appropriate deduction will be made to cover costs when the unit is vacated and this will be discussed with the resident at the time of repairs.Back to top
Will someone help me monitor medication requirements?
This service is included in the fee for rest home and hospital patients and is available to those living in the studio units for a small additional charge.Back to top
What if I need more help? What happens if I get ill?
A number of community services including short-term residential care are available free of charge to the elderly who are living in their own homes. Your GP can help you to access these within the retirement village. In addition, emergency assistance is available from Anglican Aged Care staff twenty-four hours a day.Back to top
What happens if I am not happy at Anglican Aged Care?
For those occupying a studio unit or apartment, there will be a small cost involved in leaving Anglican Aged Care's complexes. A deduction of 4% per annum calculated on a daily basis will apply to the studio units (up to a maximum of 20%) and a deduction of 5% per annum, also calculated on a daily basis up to a maximum of 25% will apply to the apartments. The service charge ceases when the unit is vacated and cleared and the balance refunded no later than 4 months after being vacated. However, we endeavour to ensure that residents enjoy living with us and welcome any complaints or suggestions for improvement that we can implement before residents decide to move.Back to top
